ABS's corporate office and manufacturing facility is located in Wallace, MI and it has state of the art fabrication, machining, and panel building facilities. We are looking for a WELDER - 2nd Shift to join our production team. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled, detail-oriented, and team-minded welder who would like to contribute to the company's growth.

Position Overview: The welder position produces a finished product and/or part by using raw materials, welding machines and engineering supplied blue prints to meet the production goals in accordance with company policies and procedures.


  • Clamping, holding, tack-welding, heat-bending, bolting, or grinding spare parts as necessary to satisfy the technical requirements and create a welded final product
  • Welding parts in various directions: flat, horizontal, vertical or overhead, etc.
  • Operating other accessory equipment and performing some tasks necessary for welding metal, such as fusing metal segments, using gas tungsten arc, metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, and other types of welding arcs
  • Control the processes of fitting, burning and welding to avoid problems in relation to overheat, distortion, expansion or shrink of spare parts
  • Preparing and setting up necessary tools and equipment for welding job such as shielded metal arc, gas metal arc or other welding equipment
  • Examining finished products and parts and comparing them with samples to check whether the specifications are met
  • Ensuring that welded parts meet quality specs through use of tools such as square, caliper or ruler
  • Identifying any issues or deficiencies related to the equipment or material; following the proper non-conformance reporting process

 Skills & Qualifications:

  • Required
    • Read and interpret blueprints and electrical layouts
    • Operate welding equipment

 Education & Experience:

  • Required
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Technical degree, certificate in related field, or equivalent experience
